At this historic Crocus Hill residence, an existing three-season porch offered beautiful natural light but limited usability due to its unconditioned design. The project reimagined the space as a fully integrated sitting room connected to the main living areas, creating a comfortable retreat that can be enjoyed year-round. The redesigned room supports multiple daily uses—from quiet relaxation and reading to focused desk time and a dedicated area for puzzles and hobbies. Flexible furnishings and an open layout allow the space to adapt easily while maintaining a calm, uncluttered feel.
To give the room distinctive character, the walls were finished in a rich, color-drenched palette that creates an immersive, cozy atmosphere despite the abundance of natural light. A heated and tiled floor introduces a subtle Mediterranean influence while adding durability and texture and warmth. Overhead, a new beadboard ceiling echoes millwork found throughout the home, helping the space feel original to this 100-plus-year-old residence.
